Your Resource Requirement
It’s difficult to estimate the time you might need to put in as the client however, there are two key measure we use:
- Attend our consultancy meetings.
- Allow about 50% of that time on top.
So for a 5 day project, allow around 7.5 days of your time, spread out over the whole project!
What’s the Price?
Consultancy work is based on a day rate which ranges fro £650 – £1,200 per a day depending on the discipline.
Assent’s tried and tested processes, tools and technologies means we can offer day rates at the lower end of this scale.

What Impacts the Cost?
Every ISO standard and project is different, so please check our specific standard cost centre pages or contact us.
Below is a general outline of what impacts the cost:
1 Scope
The more complex your scope in terms of products, services, processes, people and locations it cover the more each stage will cost.
3 Complexity
If you have many different work processes this will often increase the time required to document and audit them.
Although operational processes are primarily associated with ISO 9001, other standards will look at how requirements are embedded within your processes.
4 Legal and Regulatory Issues
If the product or service you provide is governed by regulations, such as a medical device or construction product, this may also add to the cost of the project due to addition time and competence requirements for those working on the project.
The other consideration is the countries where you operate, which may have different laws affecting your business. Again this needs to be looked at and audited.
Save Money on ISO
Hire a consultant. It sounds counter-intuitive but we can save you a lot of time and avoid many mistakes. We have everything you need to be ready for certification.
Set the right scope. This doesn’t necessarily mean limiting the scope but ensure that the system is fit for purpose and that the certification body correctly calculates the number of audit dates according to the complexity and effective number of staff.
Ongoing costs of ISO Management Systems
Once you are certified there are some things you’ll need to do including internal audits and a management review.
But if implemented properly the overhead of running a management system should be minimal.
Choose the right certification body.
Not all certification bodies charge the same and it’s not just about the day rates which range from around £800 to £1,600 depending on standard and certification body,
If they don’t have competencies in house to way light be buying them in, increasing costs.
Choosing a local provider can also reduce travel and accommodation expenses.
How much does ISO Cost?
All these factors considered, the costs can vary.
It’s best to have a free consultation with an Assent consultant to refine the scope.
